Felicity’s Spiced Nuts

Whenever I think of spiced nuts I think of the theater. I enjoy going to the ballet and theater and always look forward to buying spiced nuts. When I saw Felicity’s recipe in her Pleasant Company Cookbook, I wanted to try it!

Spiced nuts are a treat that has been around for hundreds of years. Colonials would serve them at the end of a large meal. The nuts are so delicious and addictive! I will defiantly make them for the holidays and set them out in a pretty dish. They would also make a nice snack for movie night! I enjoyed mine with Felicity’s Liberty Tea.

For this recipe you will need: butter (for greasing a cookie sheet), 1 cup of sugar, 4 tablespoons of cinnamon, 2 egg whites, a ¼ teaspoon nutmeg, 1 1/4 cups of pecans and 1 1/4 cups of almonds. The complete recipe is at the bottom of the page.EBBBA1B1-C252-46DB-B545-2F3BF7BBBC8B

Begin by greasing your cookie sheet with butter. Preheat your oven to 300 degrees. Combine sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a bowl and mix well.

Separate egg whites from yolks and beat with a fork. Stir a few nuts into the egg whites and drop them into the spice mixture. I used a fork to gently drag them out of the egg and let them fall into the spices.

Place the nuts on the cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Let the nuts cool and serve!

  1. This sounds yummy. I like that you have paired it with tea. I think that most things go well with tea.
